Jacquie Powers, Director

Jacquie is a graduate of Niagara University, with a Bachelors of Arts in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and a Masters of Science in Special Education. She also holds an Advanced Certificate in Applied Behavioral Analysis from Florida Institute of Technology. She comes to the Nursery School with several years of experience, first working as a Special Education Teacher and then as a Clinical Supervisor. Her passion for teaching children started at a young age and she remains enthusiastic in all children’s learning and development. Jacquie is a parent to two SNS students and also a former SNS board member.

Kate Ibañez, Spanish Language Teacher

Señora Ibañez is a Penn State University graduate of Early Childhood and Elementary Education with a Spanish Concentration and brings experience from teaching pre-school aged children in Chile, Haiti and Luxembourg. She is passionate about introducing language to young learners and is thrilled to be teaching Spanish at SNS. She is also a former SNS board member and the parent to two SNS students.

Kristi Peterson - 4 Year Old Teacher

Mrs. Peterson has a BA in Political Science and English and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from SUNY Oswego.  She holds teaching certificates in New York and Pennsylvania and taught for over ten years in public schools before taking time off to raise her family.  Since 2012, she has taught the 4-year-old program at SNS.  Mrs. Peterson strives to create a classroom focused on kindness and kindergarten readiness.   She loves to watch her students' social, emotional, and academic growth throughout the school year.  

Mrs. Peterson has been actively involved in the Skaneateles community for many years.  Her children attended SNS between 2003 - 2008; during that time, she served as an SNS board member.  She also served as a board member for the Skaneateles Elementary PTC, the Skaneateles Education Foundation, and, most recently, the Skaneateles Music Guild.  Mrs. Peterson and her husband reside in Skaneateles with their two college-aged daughters and dog, Petey.  Her oldest son currently lives and works in Arlington, VA.  Along with her love of teaching, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and traveling.  We are so lucky to have her preparing our kids for kindergarten!

Melissa Wright- 4 year olds and Afternoon Adventures Teacher

Mrs. Wright is entering her 4th year teaching the 4’s class at SNS and prior to that showed us her enthusiasm and love for teaching as an aide for two years for Fun Fridays, Afternoon Amigos and Afternoon Adventures.  She has a BBA in Marketing from St. Bonaventure University and 12 years of sales experience, mostly from her time in NYC.  She has served for over 10 years as Chairwoman for her family’s memorial endowment, which aids in tuition assistance for families in need.  She loves volunteering for PTC events, has taught with the Art MasterPiece program, and is currently involved with the Athletic Boosters.  

Sarah Rose - 3 Year Olds, Afternoon Adventures, and Fun Fridays Teacher

Mrs. Rose is in her third year of teaching at SNS. She is passionate about teaching children through play. She strives to create and maintain an environment where children can learn and grow while exploring the world around them. She has a degree from Onondaga Community College in Early Childhood Education. She lives in Weedsport with her husband and two boys. She enjoys spending time with her family, spending time outside and traveling.
